Dr. Otto Zhou, PhD - CEO & Co-founder
Dr. Zhou is a world leading expert on the applications of nanotechnology for X-ray generation, imaging and radiotherapy; and a serial entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Xintek Inc., the parent company of XinVivo. He and Dr. Jianping Lu invented the carbon nanotube based X-ray source array technology. It led to the formation of XinRay Systems, initially as a joint venture between Xintek and Siemens Medical, now wholly owned by Xintek. The nanotube X-ray sources are now manufactured by NuRay in ChangZhou, China, a joint venture between XinRay and Nuctech (China). Zhou serves as a board director of NuRay.
Dr. Zhou is also the David Godschalk Distinguished Professor of Physics, Applied Sciences, and at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). He holds over 50 granted/pending U.S. patents in the areas of nanotechnology and has published more than 180 technical papers in major scientific journals. The research of his team at UNC-CH has been supported by various institutes within the National Institute of Health, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, NASA, and various private companies. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and worked as a researcher at the Bell Labs and NEC (Japan). He is an elected fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.
